When describing the work for a UN System Gender Focal Point (GFP), the first concept to consider is that of "agent of change". The role of the GFP is not only to draw attention to the issues of gender equality within the organization, but also to serve as a hub of information and provide the necessary tools and skills that enable UN staff to adopt practices that advance gender equality.
But to be an agent of change, the GFP needs to understand:
- What factors lead to positive change from a gender equality and women's empowerment perspective
- Different types of change related to gender equality and women's empowerment
- The link between change and the change management process and how change happens in organizations
