We were passing through town and got invited. At the time, most Americans weren't thinking about the kids of the soldiers who came home. They were a part of a group that mostly talked to one another. I wish I had filmed more of this dialogue than I did.

Political correctness has largely caused the removal of Malcolm saying these kinds of things. Some called it Black racism. He is expressing the words of his leader, Elijah Mohammed.

Young people were being taught how to use 16mm equipment and “make movies” in major cities across the country. I thought such a class of amateurs in New York and at Sing Sing prison in Westchester County. Whether made with actors or made as a documentary, these films had and have a certain authenticity to them. I don't know what happened to most of the amateur filmmakers but I hope that many became successful.
