This is who I protect my SPS Longtail Mud Motor from wet and rain while at home.
1. Wrap the air filter and crank case vent in a small plastic shopping bag.
2. Wrap the entire engine in at least 13 gallon size trash bag.
3. Cover the engine with a wash tub or other hardshell cover.
4. Be sure to set you engine to top dead center after every use. It will lengthen the life of your valve springs and prevent water from tricking into the engine because both ports will be closed.
These steps will keep your SPS longtail mud motor protected against the elements while at home, especially if don't have a garage or shed to keep it under.
SPS longtail outboards are my favorite brand of outboard. I bought this with my own money and don;t get paid at all to say anything about their motors. These things just run.
